Large Hwa-byeong, Coiled

Made using hand foraged clays and ashes processed in my studio. These antique forms invite slowing down to take part in small rituals. Known as Hwa-byeong or "flower bottle" in Korea. This piece was made on a kickwheel and coiled using my evolving interpretation of the onggi method. Slip was poured over the form resulting in a cascading veil of white. It was glazed with rice straw ashes and local kaolin and features warmer pastel hues. Ideal for wet or dry flower arrangements. Watertight.
The ash glaze will develop a subtle patina with use. Hand wash only.
