Buncheong Medium Jar #201

California wild clays, poured crackle slip, almond ash glaze.

Made with the coiling techniques I learned while studying Onggi in Korea. The clay used to make this vessel was foraged and processed entirely by hand in my studio. The clay slip is made from Kaolin deposit near the main clay source, and the ash used in the glaze sourced from a local bakery.

This piece features fingermarks that reveal how it was handled during the slipware process. A range of soft green crackled matte surfaces reminiscent of moss or lichen covered stone.

Watertight.

Dimensions 13" W x 12" H (33cm x 31cm)
