Wheel thrown in the Korean buncheong style, made of wild clays foraged and processed by hand in my studio. A lovely undulating rim and ash features on this one. The form was clothed in white clay slip using an antique ladle to create unbalance in thickness which results in variation of hue. Finished in a simple glaze made with almond wood ash, feldspar and a small percentage of the body clay as a pigment, producing a soft yellow. This particular bowl features a coarse clay blend with naturally occurring impurities that have burned through the slip and glaze during reduction firing revealing blushing in some areas. Excellent as a salad, ramen, fruit or serving bowl The glaze will develop a beautiful patina with use.
